A Russian MiG-23UB fighter jet crashed in the US after the Thunder Over Michigan air show

Thunder Over Michigan air show was held last week in Ypsilanti, Michigan. At the end of the event there was a plane crash - a MiG-23UB fighter crashed.

Yes, you got it right, a Russian aircraft took part in Thunder Over Michigan. It was a training version of a MiG-23M fighter that belonged to former US Navy pilot Dan Filer. He flew the Grumman A-6 Intruder.

The MiG-23M had the tail number N23UB. The two pilots ejected before the fighter crashed into the ground and exploded. The pilots were retrieved from the water where they landed. There is no information about injuries.

There are reports that the fighter jet crashed near The Waverly on the Lake apartment complex. Following the crash, Thunder Over Michigan organizers cancelled the rest of the show.

It was later reported that both pilots were taken to a local hospital for a precautionary check-up. The US Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the fighter jet crash.
