Last week an unpleasant situation occurred in the state of Ohio. An American F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet was forced to abandon its fuel tanks on the ground.

On the morning of September 10, an aircraft of the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard was performing a planned training mission. During the flight, an emergency situation arose.
The F-16 pilot acted according to regulations and dropped two fuel tanks to the ground in accordance with emergency procedure. They fell to the ground in Hardin County, approximately 80 kilometres south of the base. There were no casualties in the sky or on the ground during the emergency.
The F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet was en route to the airport. As a result of the incident, the Allegiant Airlines flight was diverted to Fort Wayne, Indiana. The causes of the emergency are under investigation.
