The US Air Force has rotated fourth-generation fighters to Poland. The F-16 Fighting Falcon arrived in the country neighbouring Ukraine.

Here's What We Know

The purpose of the rotation is to support the presence on NATO's eastern flank. Four F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters of the 52nd Fighter Wing arrived in Poland. They were based at the Spangdahlem airbase in Germany.

Four F-16 Fighting Falcons replaced four F-15E Strike Eagles assigned to the 48th Fighter Wing at Royal Air Force Base Lakenheath. The F-15Es have been in an air policing role at Lask base in Poland since November last year.

The F-16 Fighting Falcon has arrived at Powidz base. It is located in the centre of Poland, near the Baltic Sea. Earlier this year, fifth-generation F-2 Raptor fighters from the 94th Fighter Squadron were stationed there as well, having travelled to Poland from Virginia.
