Japanese premium smartphone Balmuda Phone has fallen in price by 85%
In the fall of 2021, the Japanese manufacturer of premium home appliances Balmuda announced a smartphone Balmuda Phone. Six months later, its price dropped 6.5 times.
What we know
Balmuda Phone got 4.9” display Full HD and processor snapdragon 765. Battery capacity is 2500 mAh. The model is IPX4 water resistant, has NFC, 48MP camera and runs on operating system Android 11.
The company priced the smartphone at $920, but in January it officially announced that it was discontinuing sales. Stores did not want to suffer losses and tried to sell the device. Cellular operator SoftBank set the price at $1050 (¥143,280).
In order to at least somehow revive sales, it had to adjust the price. The Balmuda Phone now has 85% cheaper price in Japan. Its cost is only $160 (¥22,000). You can buy the smartphone for $0.0073 (¥1) under contract with a cellular operator.
