Serious, down-to-earth and meditative story: critics shared their impressions of the series "Star Wars: Andor"

ShortList website has collected reviews of critics who watched the first episodes of the upcoming series Andor in the Star Wars universe. Basically, the show is praised and noted for its earthiness, seriousness and lack of fan service.

Here's What We Know

Critics say Andor is unlike any Star Wars story we've seen before. It is a thorough, mature and informed story that we have today.

The series looks like it was made by HBO and not Lucasfilm. The new grounded story is more meditative. In the first 2 episodes, events are not in a hurry to gain momentum at all, but allow viewers to immerse themselves in a side of the Empire not yet seen.

Some even note that the atmosphere and character of the show look more like a dark science fiction film by Ridley Scott. And the earthiness of the series is that there is less humor. It feels more like a crime drama than a space opera.

The series feels more adult than most Star Wars stories of late. There are no cute creatures or funny droids in it, instead we will get a premium meditative series.

Also, do not expect fan service, easter eggs and cameos for the sake of cameos. I

n an interview with IGN, showrunner Tony Gilroy explained that he wanted to make a more believable and honest series.

Also, everyone notes the excellent acting of Diego Luna, and the author of the show Tony Gilroy has already been called a genius.

Flashback

The story of Andor tells about the uprising that unfolds against the Empire and how people and planets become involved in it all. This era is filled with danger, deception and intrigue. The series is a prequel to the film Rogue One and will tell the story of the life and journey of Cassian Andor, who must embark on a path that will turn him into a rebel hero. The events will unfold five years before the events of the film during the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

When We Can Expect It

The first three episodes of Star Wars Andor will premiere on September 21 on Disney+.
