The Project 955A nuclear submarine with a displacement of 24,000 tonnes arrived at the Russian Federation Pacific Fleet base in Vilyuchinsk, Kamchatka. The strategic submarine cruiser passed through the Northern Sea Route and ended up at the place of permanent deployment.
"Generalissimo Suvorov" is the second strategic submarine missile carrier, which was built under the 955A project. It was commissioned into the Russian Navy at the end of last year, almost 10 years after construction began.
The Generalissimo Suvorov submarine cruiser's main weapons are 16 R-30 Bulava ballistic missiles. They can carry a nuclear charge with a power of over 100 kilotons. The maximum launch range is 9,300 kilometres.
