Mickey Mouse in an unexpected role: the unusual horror game Infestation 88 is presented

The year 2024 has just kicked off with the announcement of a notable game.

Disney's copyright on the cartoon "Steamboat Willie" (1928) has expired, and its main character became public, so everyone can use the prototype of Mickey Mouse in their media projects.

Here's What We Know

Nightmare Forge Games has announced Infestation 88, a co-operative horror game in which players will battle mysterious infestations and meet creepy versions of "famous characters and heroes of urban legends". One of these, as shown in the debut trailer, will be a distorted and hyperbolised early version of Mickey Mouse.

There isn't much information about Infestation 88 yet. What is known is that it will be a horror game designed for up to four players. Each episode of the game is dedicated to a different character, but who will appear besides Mickey Mouse is still unknown.

When We Can Expect It

Infestation 88 will launch in Early Access in 2024, the game can already be added to your wishlist.
