God of War can now run on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 PCs
Starting January 14, 2022, Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC owners can play God of War, a former Sony PlayStation exclusive. In the meantime, enthusiasts have made sure that the game can be run on older versions of Microsoft's operating system.
What we know
God of War did not surprise with system requirements, offering a set of restrictions that is quite typical for modern AAA projects in terms of technical parameters for hardware. Each gamer will have to decide the issue of upgrading a PC on their own, but for players who, for one reason or another, cannot switch to Windows 10 or Windows 11, modders decided to help.
God of War has acquired an operating system verification algorithm, and therefore the game cannot officially be run on a PC running Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Enthusiasts managed to get around this limitation.
The mod is called Windows 7 Patch for God of War. Despite the name, it is compatible with Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Users who installed the patch note that due to the lower resource intensity of older versions of the God of War operating system, it works a little faster.
Use the mod at your own risk.
