The death sound in Roblox has been replaced with a less meme sound
Even if you've never played Roblox, you may still have heard the game's calling card - the "oof" sound that plays when a character dies. Now death has hit that sound, too.
The classic "oof" was removed because of a licensing problem:
"As for the sounds, we removed the "oof” sound from Roblox because of a licensing problem and added a replacement. We plan to expand our avatar store with a number of both old and new sounds. More details will follow."
Related to sounds, due to licensing issue we have removed the "oof" sound from Roblox and have created a replacement default sound which launches today.

We plan to expand on our Avatar store with a number of old and new sounds in the future. More to come on this.
What exactly led to the removal of the sound is unknown.
The rights to the original "oof" belong to composer Tommy Tallarico. And this isn't the first time Tallarico and Roblox Corporation have had a showdown over the use of this sound.
First, the sound was recorded for the adventure action game Messiah. In 2019, Tallarico discovered that "Oof” was being used in Roblox and later reached an agreement with the studio. Under this agreement, authors of games within Roblox must pay $1 to use the sound in their works.
