Polish shooter in a new way: gameplay trailer of Witchfire, an ambitious game from the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm, has been released
During IGN Fan Fest 2023, small Polish studio The Astronauts, founded by the former developers of once popular shooters Painkiller and Bulletstorm, unveiled another Witchfire first-person shooter trailer.
Here's What We Know
The gameplay video with gamemaker Adrian Chmielarz' comments demonstrates Witchfire's combat system, based on a shoot-out with monsters using the Hunger handheld shotgun. This weapon initially has enormous killing power, but as the game progresses, the player will be able to upgrade it three times, giving the shotgun new effects.
Overall, Witchfire's gameplay is reminiscent of the very Polish shooters the team started out with: fast, brutal, dynamic and addictive.
Apart from the gameplay, the stylistics of the game are also interesting: in Witchfire, players will find themselves in an environment of dark medieval fantasy, in which firearms have somehow appeared.
When We Can Expect It
Witchfire was announced back in 2017 at The Game Awards, and work is progressing very slowly, so no release date has yet been announced. However, The Astronauts has not ruled out an early access shooter release as early as 2023.
