Facepunch Studios will skip GDC due to personal threats
Facepunch Studios, which is responsible for the development of Rust, has cancelled its plans for GDC in San Francisco as team members faced an "IRL" (in real life) threat that they take seriously. The studio announced this in a post on its Twitter account:
This is not a statement we're happy to announce.

Due to an IRL threat we must take seriously, we're going to have to cancel the GDC meetup in San Fran next week. ????
If you would like to show us portfolios, talk shop, or get feedback on your work reach out via email!
The studio asked users to send their works and portfolios to the email address. It didn't explain what exactly the threat is, but it's very sad to see the developers of a big project like Rust skip a public exhibition to avoid risking the lives of their employees.
"It's important to remember that developers are really people. And when it comes to their safety, this issue becomes number 1 for us," the studio wrote.
