Media: Microsoft to get backing from UK and European regulators, allowing corporation to close Activision Blizzard deal without US Federal Trade Commission approval
Today - 26 April - the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is due to announce its final decision on the review of the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.
Recently The Financial Times, published a piece stating that the CMA is likely to support the merger. Now another reputable publication confirms this information and adds to it.
Here's What We Know
According to The New York Times, the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will support not only the CMA, but also the European Commission.
The publication's sources indicate that both regulatory bodies will not obstruct the American giants, because Microsoft's arguments about the lack of plans for Call of Duty series exclusivity seemed convincing to them.
The New York Times claims that if Phil Spencer's team gets the green light from European regulators, Microsoft could close the deal without the approval of the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
