Discord makes changes to usernames on the platform - four-digit discriminators are over

Discord is making changes to its naming system that will finally get rid of the four-digit "discriminators" that made nicknames very cumbersome. The changes will also affect the display of names, so you can now customise how you appear to other users.

Here's What We Know

The naming problem on Discord is not new - players have been complaining about the inconvenient system for years. For those who do not use the messenger, let me clarify: each nickname in Discord is assigned a random identifier number, for example, phill#3421, and in order for your friends to find you, you need to say these numbers. What's more, nicknames are also case-sensitive! That is, PhiLL#1234 and phill#1234 are not the same nickname. It seems that the messenger's developers have finally realised that something is wrong and something needs to be changed.

With the update, everyone will be given the opportunity to choose a unique nickname consisting of letters, numbers, a dot or an underscore and a separate name (as before), which will be displayed in the profile as it is done, for example, in the Telegram messenger.
