Authoritative insider has no doubts about the development of a Final Fantasy IX remake

Square Enix is currently working on the second instalment of the Final Fantasy VII remake, subtitled Rebirth, but it's not likely to be the only project to revive the classic game.

Here's What We Know

On the Game Mess Mornings podcast, well-known insider and journalist Jeff Grubb revealed that a remake of Final Fantasy IX is in the works for Japanese developers.

According to his information, Square Enix will update the graphics, visuals and some gameplay elements to modern standards, but will keep the same turn-based combat system and overall atmosphere of the game.

Grubb has no doubts about the existence of a remake of the ninth part of Final Fantasy, but is not yet ready to give a specific release date.
