In September 2022, one of the most high-profile game information leaks in recent years took place: Disappointed but not broken: Rockstar has officially commented on the leaked GTA VI development materials, as well as their source code, were leaked online.

Here's What We Know

One of the culprits was named 18-year-old Arion Kurtaj, who is a member of the Lapsus$ hacker group. However, it seems that he will not be tried: according to Reuters, he was declared unfit to stand trial for psychiatric reasons, meaning that a verdict of guilt or innocence will not be announced by a jury, but a decision will be made on whether he committed the acts charged.

Kurtaj is accused of carrying out hacking attacks and blackmailing several large companies for ransom. Among them are Rockstar, Nvidia, Uber, Revolut, Microsoft, and others.

The GTA 6 gameplay leaks caused a wave of dissatisfaction from players with the way the game looks, although the developers explained that this is only an alpha build and the final look of the game will be different, and Rockstar's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, said that the incident had almost no impact on the game's development.
