The FTC has dropped its litigation with Microsoft over its merger with Activision Blizzard and withdrew the suit
Apparently, the confrontation between the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Microsoft has come to its logical conclusion.
Here's What We Know
Having lost twice in court, the FTC decided to abandon the challenge to the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard and to stop the administrative proceedings.
Theoretically, the FTC can re-file a lawsuit in court, but there is little point in this action.
Microsoft found common ground with almost all participants in the conflict and made agreements. The main task of the American giants is to convince British regulators that their deal will not harm the gaming industry and the cloud technology market, about which the CMA is so worried.
the FTC has withdrawn its administrative case seeking to block Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition that was due to start on August 2nd. This is purely procedural as Microsoft has forced it, and the FTC could file the case again pic.twitter.com/jlDTMR0RGG
