The mysterious future of "Obi-Wan Kenobi": The director promises surprises after the limited series

Perhaps Star Wars would have received a huge response if director Deborah Chow had decided to continue the Obi-Wan Kenobi series for a second season. Although the series has been announced as a limited series, according to Chow, the possibility of a continuation is still not ruled out.

Here's What We Know

The series will see the return of iconic characters Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, who have brought their Star Wars roles to life in the story that unfolded between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.

"It's always so anticlimactic, but as Ewan and I finished our very last shot on second unit and I was literally taking off my headphones, he was already pitching me ideas for season 2. There's another 10 years with plenty of stories, and I don't think it’s off the board. It is a 'never say never' situation, but we really did conceive this to be a limited series", Chow tells The Hollywood Reporter.

There seem to be no plans for a second season of "Obi-Wan Kenobi" at the moment, but that doesn't mean we'll never see McGregor in the role again.

"I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi" Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said earlier. "Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we're doing, or eventually into a movie, but who knows? But right now, it's still our standard stand-alone limited series, we have no plans for expansion right now".

While we don't know when we'll see the next appearance of McGregor's Obi-Wan, Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker will return in the upcoming show Ahsoka. After several hints of his possible return in films based on the "Star Wars" universe, a short teaser has been released confirming his return.
