More than a remake: the first unique footage from The Toxic Avenger starring Peter Dinklage, Elijah Wood and Kevin Bacon has been released
Legendary has shared some new images from the upcoming reboot of The Toxic Avenger, starring Peter Dinklage and Kevin Bacon.
Here's What We Know
The revival of "The Toxic Avenger" has gone through a long development phase with various directors and high-profile actors, including, once upon a time, Arnold Schwazenegger and High Fidelity's Steve Pink. In 2020, Peter Dinklage was cast in the lead role, at which point development began in earnest, suggesting that ten years later, this Tromaville character will finally be brought to the public.
Film company Legendary has unveiled some exclusive footage from the upcoming reboot. The shots, published in Entertainment Weekly, give fans their first glimpse of not only Kevin Bacon and Peter Dinklage, but also the character of Elijah Wood, who draws attention with his charm (and some elements of the aesthetic) of Danny DeVito's Penguin from Batman Returns.

Here's What The Movie Is About
The film, based on a long-running cinematic project by famed film company Troma, is about a 98-pound New Jersey caretaker who gets trapped in a toxic waste container and transforms into a good-natured and then heroic monster who must restore order to the city, including facing off against a gang called the Killer-Natz, who like to pull KISS-style antics.
In addition to the films and the short-lived animated series The Toxic Avengers, the character nicknamed "Toxie" has become a symbol of Troma. Over the years, his image has been used in products and on title cards.
When We Can Expect It
A premiere date for the new "The Toxic Avenger" has not yet been announced.
