Apple TV and Paramount Plus are going to team up to offer packages that can attract and retain subscribers
Information has emerged that Apple and Paramount are considering the idea of offering their streaming services at a reduced price. To do this, they intend to join forces to make their offerings more affordable and attractive.
Here's What We Know
This news was published by The Wall Street Journal. Apparently, the two influential streaming services are considering the option of a combined Paramount+ and Apple TV+ subscription, the cost of which would be lower than subscribing to both services separately.
However, discussions are still in the early stages, and it's unclear how such a package would be structured.
The desire to create a duet between Apple and Paramount appears to have arisen against a backdrop of increased competition. Recently, many services have been increasing the cost of their services in the hope of making their businesses more profitable, but this has only led to more unsubscribes. Many users found it financially unaffordable to hang on to their subscriptions to two or three services, and had to opt for one.
Since most streaming platforms come with a monthly subscription, viewers can easily unsubscribe after they finish watching a particular show. Providing multiple services in one package should apparently reduce the likelihood of subscribers cancelling the service.
This is not the first example of streaming giants teaming up to create a cost-effective package. Disney, for example, offers the Disney Plus-Hulu package at a lower price than paying for the two streaming services separately. There are reports that Disney Plus and Hulu will completely merge into one service by the end of 2024.
This was already the case with MAX, which came about after Warner Bros. and Discovery Plus merged.
