Rumour: actresses from House of the Dragon, Locke & Key and Zombies are battling for the mantle of Supergirl in the new DC film

DC is looking for its Supergirl, and there is information that Meg Donnelly from "Zombies", Emilia Jones from "Locke & Key" and Rhaenyra Targaryen herself, or rather Milly Alcock from "House of the Dragon" are ready to try on the role of Kryptonian Kara Zor-El.

Here's What We Know

Trial shoots for "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow," DC Studios' upcoming film about Superman's cousin from the planet Krypton, are set to begin soon and according to Deadline, the aforementioned actresses are ready to take part. A parallel search for a director will also reportedly be underway, all under the watchful eye of DC Studios co-head James Gunn.

Created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has eight issues running from 2021 to 2022 and tells the story of how the protagonist approaches an alien girl who has lost her home planet. It turns out this stranger is seeking revenge, and if Supergirl doesn't help her, she'll do it herself.... at any cost.

Here's What The Movie Is About

The official synopsis reads: ""Now Kara, Krypto the dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core".

Gunn noted that the film will show the strongest difference between the fates of Supergirl and Superman: "We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he's an infant. Versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life", explained the director.

Supergirl was previously embodied on screen by The CW's Melissa Benoist as part of The CW's Arrowverse. It premiered in October 2015. The show ran for six seasons, until November 2021, and showed how the character balances her work in the media with her crime-fighting duties in pursuit of justice.

When We Can Expect It
