Phil Spencer: Microsoft is actively working with partners to create its own mobile store
Microsoft plans to expand further, and now the corporation is considering the possibility of creating its own mobile store.
Here's What We Know
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft's gaming division, said in São Paulo during the CCXP comics and entertainment convention that this is an important part of the strategy that Microsoft is actively working on today, not only by itself but also by communicating with other partners who would also like to see a greater choice of ways to monetise on the phone.
Although Phil doesn't say when exactly the launch will take place, he doesn't think it will be a few years away. He believes it will "happen sooner".
However, Apple is currently banning other mobile stores from its ecosystem. The European Union's Digital Markets Act could force Apple to open up its ecosystem to other stores. So far, Apple is appealing this law, so it will be interesting to see how this whole story ends.
