Nokia changes iconic logo for first time in almost 60 years

Finnish company Nokia, founded in the mid-19th century, has changed its iconic logo. This is the first time in almost 60 years.

Here's What We Know

Nokia is coming to Barcelona for Mobile World Congress 2023. The company said it plans to focus on "aggressive growth". The new logo was an expression of a "dynamic, energetic and modern Nokia".

The logo consists of five figures that together form the word NOKIA. Websites will trim the logo with square previews, than remind their visitors that 0<1.

Nokia CEO Pekka Lundmark, in an interview with Reuters, named key milestones in the company's strategy. They are rebooting, accelerating and scaling up. The first stage has been successfully completed.

The changes are driven by the company's desire to move away from the association with telephones, as it is no longer in the business of making them. This business has been owned by HMD Global for several years.

Nokia management wants to launch a new brand that will focus on networks and industrial digitalisation. The company will try to increase the share of wireless services with networking equipment and sell private 5G networks to customers. In 2022, corporate sales grew 21% and gained a share of 8% (€2.11bn).
