The US HIMARS missile system for the first time destroyed a rare Russian electronic warfare station RB-636M2 Svet-KU
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed a rare Russian electronic warfare station. It has the name RB-636M2 "Svet-KU".
Here's What We Know
From 2016 to 2021, the stations were spotted four times on the territory of the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. The Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed the target with a GMLRS precision-guided projectile fired from the M142 HIMARS missile system.
A rare find, named the RB636 Sveet-KU, was adopted in 2012. In Ukraine, it was spotted three times, in 2016, 2020 and 2021 in the occupied Luhansk region. RB-636M2 "Svet-KU" is used to assess the electromagnetic situation, search and analyse radio emissions. The station can also locate sources of radio emissions in the ultra-high frequency range.
RB-636M2 "Svet-KU" was taken into service in 2012. How many electronic warfare stations have entered service with the Russian army is not specified at the moment.
