Sega CEO Sammy Holdings revealed the main reason for the cancellation of Hyenas and revealed that Creative Assembly Studios will return to producing top-notch strategy games
In September, Sega Sammy Holdings cancelled the development of Hyenas, a nearly completed online shooter that was being developed by Creative Assembly, a British studio known as the creator of the first-class strategy game Total War.
During a conversation with investors, Sega Sammy Holdings CEO Haruki Satomi revealed the main reason for the cancellation of Hyenas.
Here's What We Know
Haruki Satomi stated that.
Although the game itself was good, we decided to cancel it. The reason is that the project, in our opinion, would not have reached a level of quality that would satisfy users. In addition, we considered how competitive the game would be over a long period of time...
The Japanese were pleased with Creative Assembly's work, but market research and analyses of test participants' opinions showed Hyenas to be unviable.
Sega's president stated that Creative Assembly would return to what they were used to doing and what they do best - strategy games. However, it's worth remembering that many gamers have long dreamed of a sequel to the Alien: Isolation horror, which was created by the British studio, and perhaps a return to the concept of single-player games will help Creative Assembly convince Sega to continue this project.
