The next instalment of The Witcher will be an innovative RPG that will set new standards in the industry

At Milan Games Week 2023, journalists of Italian portal Lega Nerd had a chance to talk to Sebastian Kalemba - game director of the new trilogy of The Witcher franchise and one of the leading developers of Cyberpunk 2077.

Here's What We Know

Kalemba shared that CD Projekt Red faces a difficult task: on the one hand, the new game must meet the high expectations of old fans of the franchise, but at the same time it is necessary to interest the new audience, because by the time of The Witcher 4 release (the name is conditional) it will be about 15 years since the release of the previous part, and during this time a new generation of gamers has grown up.

Sebastian Kalemba said that CD Projekt Red does not want to repeat old developments, and plans to present the public an innovative game, which will be even more intense story, varied gameplay and more freedom of action.

According to the game director, The Witcher: Polaris will not only be better than The Witcher 3, but will set new standards for the whole industry:

Our priority is to try to do something that's out of the box. We want to try to do something new compared to what has already been done in RPGs, especially since we are working in this genre and targeting its fans.

Since The Witcher 3 was released, RPGs and open-world projects have undergone significant changes, and technology has moved far ahead, allowing for a lot more creativity and the most daring concepts to be realised.

Sebastian Kalemba did not reveal any details of the new trilogy as its first game is in the early stages of production, although as we reported, there are 330 employees working on it and that number will grow.
