At my breaking point - how are you separating work/home in WFH era?!

I'm seriously struggling with boundaries since going remote. My mental health is tanking because home doesn't feel like home anymore - just workplace with a bed. The laptop sits there taunting me every weekend. My partner says I'm "half present" even when supposedly off the clock.

After 2+ years of this, I'm starting to miss cubicles (words I never thought I'd type). At least when I left the building, work STAYED THERE. Now it's everywhere, all the time.

Some specifics making me miserable:

- Team in multiple time zones means meetings at 7am AND 8pm

- Manager "just checks in" on weekends and holidays

- Can't remember last time I didn't check email before bed

- Using my personal space for stressful work tasks

Those successfully managing WFH life - what ACTUALLY works? Not looking for Instagram-perfect solutions but real tactics from real people. At this point I'll try literally anything.

Bought mini foldable screen divider ($35 amazon) that physically blocks my workspace when off hours. Sounds ridiculous but having work visually GONE helps my anxiety immensely

Everyone suggests physical separation but psychological boundaries matter more. Started answering after-hours messages with "I'll handle this tomorrow during business hours" - uncomfortable first week, now everyone respects it

Calendar blocking saved my marriage - literally schedule "make dinner with no devices" and "morning coffee without slack" as unmovable appointments. Treat personal time with same respect as client meetings

Controversial but: deliberately create tech friction. Removed mail app from phone, disabled slack notifications, log out completely at day end. Extra 15 seconds to check messages prevents reflexive response behavior

Scheduled "fake meetings" at day start/end where I just journal for 15min about home life before work / work accomplishments after. Transition ritual replaced my old commute mental switch

Told my company either pay for separate work phone or accept I'm not reachable on personal device after hours. Shocked when they actually provided one. now work phone goes in drawer at 5pm

moved my desk to face AWAY from bed - sounds minor but game-changing. Tired of waking up staring at workspace and emails being first/last thing I see daily

Tried similar approach by converting closet to mini-office. Closing doors feels like physically shutting work away. Better sleep immediately
