Here's What We Know
On September 11, 2023, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Kyiv. They discussed in detail the supply of long-range Taurus cruise missiles.
According to the Ukrainian minister, there are advances in the issue of transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine, but he did not provide any additional details. Also discussed at the meeting was the strengthening of Ukraine's air defence.
Talks about Taurus deliveries began several weeks ago, after the UK and France transferred Storm Shadow and SCALP long-range missiles to Ukraine. Germany has been assessing the impact of Taurus deliveries all summer, but has not made a final decision.
The cost of one German-Swedish missile is estimated at about $1 million. It can hit enemy ground targets within a radius of 500 kilometres. As for Storm Shadow and SCALP, according to unconfirmed information, Ukraine has received export versions of the missiles with a maximum range of about 250 kilometres.
