French physicist presented a picture of a sausage as a picture from the James Webb telescope - thousands of people believed him
French physicist Etienne Klein has come up with a strange way to prove that you should not trust everything written on the Internet.
What we know
Physicist posted on his Twitter a photo and signed that the star Proxima Centauri is pictured on it, and the shot was taken with a space telescope James Webb. The photo has garnered several thousand reposts and more than 15,000 likes.

In fact, Etienne Klein published a photo of a sausage. He later had to apologize for misleading Twitter users. The French physicist stated that he was surprised by what had happened. He believed that people would immediately realize that the photo shows if not a sausage, then certainly not a red dwarf star.
Klein claims that his intention was not to deceive or ridicule anyone. He just wanted to show how easy it is to fall for untrue information. According to the physicist, his photo was even shared by journalists of large TV channels in France.
