James Cameron said he warned of the dangers of artificial intelligence to humanity back in 1984 with the release of "Terminator"
Oscar-winning Canadian film director James Cameron (James Cameron) agrees with the opinion of experts in the field of artificial intelligence that the development of this technology poses a serious danger to humanity.
Here's What We Know
Cameron said he shares the views of the so-called "godfathers" of AI, who have recently issued increasing warnings about the need to regulate the technology.
"I warned you guys in 1984, and you didn't listen," the director said, alluding to his film "The Terminator," which came out in 1984.
Cameron said it is important to assess who is developing the technology and whether they are doing it for profit. He also believes that the biggest danger is weaponising AI.
"You could imagine an AI in a combat theatre, the whole thing just being fought by the computers at a speed humans can no longer intercede, and you have no ability to deescalate."
