The YouTube platform has launched a test of artificial intelligence-generated annotations for videos that appear on search and watch pages.
Here's What We Know
The auto-generated summary gives a brief overview of the video to help the viewer decide whether it's worth watching. The company emphasised that the AI annotations do not replace the author's descriptions of the video.
The experiment is being conducted on a limited number of English-language videos for some viewers. A YouTube spokesperson said that on mobile devices, the summaries will appear in educational videos, shopping videos and vlogs.
It's not yet known how viewers will be able to tell the difference between a user-generated video summary and one written by artificial intelligence.
