Ukraine develops mine-resistant footwear for sappers

The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is developing anti-explosive boots for sappers that will reduce the risk of leg injuries during mine clearance.

Here's What We Know

The special boots are designed to protect the sapper and prevent the effect of an anti-personnel explosive device. Currently, the Central Logistics Development and Support Directorate and the Support Forces Command are conducting tests.

According to Deputy Minister of Defence Vitaliy Polovenko, these are multilayer boots with Kevlar (ballistic) insoles. They help to trap debris in the sole and prevent serious injuries.

He also added that Ukrainian specialists are developing and testing various samples of such footwear and working to improve tactical and technical characteristics.
