AeroVironment unveils VAPOR 55 MX helicopter drone with increased payload
The U.S. defense company AeroVironment, a manufacturer of Switchblade kamikaze drones, has unveiled an all-electric, next-generation helicopter-type unmanned aerial system. The drone is called the VAPOR 55 MX.
Here's What We Know
The drone can function in any weather. Compared to its predecessor, the operating time of VAPOR 55 MX is increased by 25%. The payload of the drone increased by 20%. According to the manufacturer, this will increase the flexibility of the drone in the field, as well as meet the requirements of defense and industrial customers.

The VAPOR 55 MX has an operating time of more than 70 minutes without recharging. The expandable modular compartment allows a payload of up to 5.5 kg to be attached so that the takeoff weight does not exceed 25 kg. This restriction is set by the United States Federal Aviation Administration. But it applies only to commercial customers.
Military versions of the VAPOR 55 MX will be able to lift almost 10 kg of payload, and the maximum takeoff weight of the drone will be about 29.5 kg. But the drone's flight time will be reduced.
