The US eliminated ISIS leader Usamah al-Muhajir late last week. This was officially announced by the US military's Central Command.
Here's What We Know
CENTCOM said the US is committed to defeating ISIS in the region. According to General Michael Kurilla, ISIS is a threat both within the region and beyond.
Osama al-Muhajer was eliminated on July 7, 2023. MQ-9 Reaper drones struck him. Eliminating the leader would impair ISIL's ability to conduct terrorist attacks. No civilians were injured as a result of the special operation.
On the day Osama al-Muhajer was eliminated, Russian fighter jets pursued the MQ-9 Reaper for several hours. The planes tried to shoot down the American drones by dropping bombs and engaging their afterburner next to them.
