Ukraine's defence forces have destroyed a rare Iranian Mohajer-6 attack drone, which can reach speeds of up to 200 km/h, carry Ghaem bombs and Almas missiles

The Russian army has lost another Mohajer-6 unmanned aerial vehicle. The drone was shot down in the Odessa region.

Here's What We Know

The Russians regularly use Iranian kamikaze drones Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 to strike Ukraine. The Mohajer-6 is much less common. It is a reconnaissance and strike drone.

The unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed on September 2, 2023 by forces and means of air defence in Odessa region. This was reported by the press service of the Air Command "South". Details are not specified.

Ukrainian defence forces have destroyed Mohajer-6 before, and last year the Ukrainian Navy managed to capture such a drone when it fell into the Black Sea. As it turned out later, the UAV was shot down by the navigator of a small armoured artillery boat.

The Mohajer-6 was equipped with a Rotax Aircraft Engines propulsion system, a camera with a multispectral sensor, a laser rangefinder and a Ghaem-5 bomb with an 8.5kg warhead. On paper, the drone can carry up to 100kg payload.

In addition to the Ghaem bombs, the Mohajer-6 can be armed with Almas missiles with a launch range of 8km. The Iranians are believed to have developed them based on the Israeli Spike missile. It is also noted that the UAV is capable of reaching a speed of 200 km/h and has a range of 200 kilometres.
