Ukraine will receive German Bergepanzer 2 armored vehicles based on Leopard 1 tanks
The Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive German repair and recovery armored vehicles Bergepanzer 2.
What we know
Bergepanzer 2 is an armored vehicle based on the German tank Leopard 1. The vehicle is used to provide mobility for armored troops. The crew consists of four soldiers, including one driver.
The armored vehicle weighs about 40 tons. It is equipped with 830 hp engine and can travel at speeds up to 62 km/h. Cruising range is 850 km. Armament Bergepanzer 2 includes smoke grenades and two 7.62 mm machine guns MG3.
Germany has not yet announced a timeline for the transfer of armored vehicles and does not give any additional information about logistics. It is known that Ukraine will receive three units of Bergepanzer 2.
