France will give Ukraine Crotale air defense systems - they are effective against drones and aerial bombing
France has promised to give Ukraine short-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs) Crotale.
Here's What We Know
According to French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, these are air defense systems that will be especially useful in the fight against drones and aerial bombing. France has 12 such batteries, but the minister did not specify how many Ukraine will receive.
Ukraine will be able to use the air defense systems in 2 months, which is the time needed to train Ukrainian servicemen in their use.
Crotale is a short-range all-weather antiaircraft missile system, which is designed to fight air targets at medium, low and extremely low altitudes. It has a range of 500-10000 meters, a kill height of up to 6000 meters and a reaction time of 5 seconds.
In addition, France will train up to 2,000 Ukrainian military personnel in combat, use of French equipment, skills related to logistics and supply.
