U.S. successfully tested hypersonic weapons components

The U.S. Department of Defense successfully tested hypersonic weapons components. The U.S. Navy and U.S. Army were involved in the test.

On October 26, a rocket was launched from a naval launch pad in Virginia. The launch allowed the U.S. military to conduct about a dozen experiments with hypersonic weapons in order to create a new class of weapons.

The tests took place at the Wallops flight base, which belongs to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Specialists evaluated the work of the equipment to provide communication and navigation hypersonic rocket. The tests also tested materials that can withstand heat in a hypersonic environment.

Lockheed Martin and Raytheon are working on the hypersonic weapon. Wednesday's missile launch was part of a test of future aspects of the U.S. Navy's non-nuclear global strike weapons and the U.S. Army's long-range hypersonic weapons.
