The first F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters in service with the Minnesota Air National Guard received the latest AESA radars.
Here's What We Know
Nine Block 50-level F-16CM Fighting Falcon aircraft are equipped with active phased array radars. The aircraft were upgraded by Lockheed Martin and the 148th Fighter Wing.
To install the new radar system with an active phased array it was necessary to disassemble the front end of the fourth generation fighter. Lockheed Martin specialists got rid of the old radar and installed new components.
The use of the new radar is the biggest upgrade for the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The aircraft began appearing at the end of the 20th century and will remain in service for about another 20 years.
