From time to time we write about US and European fighters flying out to intercept Russian planes. The day before, however, the opposite happened.
Here's What We Know
An Su-35 fighter jet flew out to intercept US bombers. This was reported by the Russian media, citing the defence ministry.
Two B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bombers were detected over the waters of the Baltic Sea by air defence forces. The US strategic jets were heading towards the Russian state border.
The B-52H bombers did not violate Russian airspace. After the planes moved away from the state border, the Russian Su-35 fighter returned to its home airfield.
