US and Japan conduct joint exercises with B-1B Lancer strategic supersonic bombers, F-15 Eagle fighters, F-16 Fighting Falcon
The United States Air Force's B-1B Lancer supersonic bomber managed to take part in bilateral exercises in Japan and South Korea last week.
Here's What We Know
The day before we wrote that the B-1B Lancer flew over the Korean peninsula for the fourth time since the beginning of 2023. The bombers took to the air in the company of American F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters and South Korean F-35A Lightning II fighters.
In addition, two supersonic B-1B Lancer strategic jets flew over the Sea of Japan on March 19, 2023. Four US F-16 Fighting Falcons and four Japanese F-15 Eagles flew with them.
The US Indo-Pacific Command and the Japanese Self-Defence Forces were able to successfully conduct a bilateral bomber integration exercise. They demonstrated the "robust and lethal" deterrence options available to the US-Japan alliance.
