TAI conducts first flight test of T625 Gökbey helicopter with Turkish TS1400 engine
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has conducted flight tests of the T625 Gökbey with the TS1400 engine. The helicopter took to the skies for the first time.
Here's What We Know
The T625 Gökbey has been developed under a contract between the Turkish Defence Industries Presidency and TAI. Ismail Demir, head of the Defence Industries Presidency, released a video of the first flight of the helicopter with the Turkish TS1400 engine that has been under development for 6 years. The power plant has an output of 1,400 horsepower.

The Gökbey weighs 6 tonnes and can carry up to 12 people. The helicopter is capable of speeds of 306km/h. The operating altitude is 6.1 km and the maximum flight time is almost 4 hours. The T625 has a range of 740km.
The external fuel tank allows the helicopter to fly for approximately 5 hours. In this mode, the maximum flight range increases to 948 km.
