Lockheed Martin to upgrade UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, extend service life to 2070 and double production at plant in Poland
Lockheed Martin is developing a modernisation plan to extend the life of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. The Polish company PZL Mielec will play a major role in this.

The UH-60 Black Hawk flew for the first time some 50 years ago and will continue in service for almost as long. The helicopter will remain in service until 2070. Anthony Tite, head of business development at Lockheed Martin UK, said.
The UH-60 Black Hawk upgrade plan will be carried out through Lockheed Martin subsidiaries Sikorsky and PZL Mielec. Helicopter production in Poland will be increased from 24 to 48 aircraft per year
The UH-60 Black Hawk was adopted by the US Army in 1978, four years after its first flight. There are more than two dozen versions of the helicopter. The UH-60 Black Hawk is in service with some 30 countries, including the United States, Australia, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
