Ukraine to receive GLSDB missiles with a maximum launch range of 150km in the second half of the year

The Ukrainian Armed Forces can expect to receive US high-precision long-range GLSDB missiles no sooner than in the autumn. The M142 HIMARS missile system will be used to launch them.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by US Undersecretary of Defence Laura Cooper during a speech to Congress. The issue was raised against the backdrop of a missile strike on the Chongar bridge, which connects mainland Ukraine to the Crimean peninsula.

The bridge is actively used by Russian troops for logistical purposes. The distance from it to the front line is approximately 120km. Judging by the published footage, the strike was still carried out by a French-British Storm Shadow cruise missile.

As for the GLSDB, it is a joint development of Boeing and Saab. It is a combination of M26 missile and GBU-39/B SDB bombs weighing about 115 kg. An inertial system and GPS are used for guidance. The deviation from the target is less than 1 metre.
