The first Ukrainian 155-mm howitzer has a range of up to 42 km - official characteristics of the upgraded 2S22 Bogdana revealed
The 2S22 Bogdana is the first and so far the only self-propelled howitzer of 155 mm calibre created in Ukraine. This week, Ukroboronprom revealed the official specifications of the upgraded 2S22 Bogdana at the IDEF 2023 exhibition in Turkey.
Here's What We Know
The upgraded 2S22 Bogdana, known as Bogdana 2.0, is equipped with a 155/52 calibre gun with a rate of fire of 5 rounds per minute. The ammunition complement is 20 shells. The angle of rotation of the cannon is from -30° to 30° horizontally. The elevation angle is from -5° to 65° degrees.
The Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer is brought into combat position in 90 seconds. The maximum range of fire is 42 kilometres. Also in the statement, representatives of Ukroboronprom said a data exchange system is used, but the name is not specified.
At IDEF 2023, images and mock-ups of the 2S22 Bogdana based on the MAZ-6317 were shown. However, the company will offer versions on Tatra, MAN and KrAZ chassis. The maximum speed of the combat vehicle is 30 km/h off-road and 80 km/h on the motorway. The range is 500 km and 800 km respectively.
