It recently became known that the Nexter company is going to produce 78 self-propelled Caesar artillery units for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Now the details of the arms purchase have appeared on the Internet.

Here's What We Know

According to the French Ministry of Defence, the project will be carried out within the framework of the coalition "Artillery for Ukraine". 12 out of 78 installations will buy for the AFU France. 6 systems have already been independently paid for by Ukraine. The remaining SAU will be purchased by partners who are members of the Rammstein contact group. The installations are planned to be produced during 2024. By the way, deliveries of the first systems should begin soon.

Flashback

Caesar is a French 155-millimetre self-propelled artillery unit designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries, bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. The maximum range of the SAU is 42 kilometres (depending on the projectile). It is capable of firing 6 rounds per minute. It is operated by a crew of 4-5 people. By the way, Ukraine has been using Caesar SAU since the beginning of the full-scale war. They were transferred to the AFU by France and Denmark.
