The United States of America has transferred GLSDB shells to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland at a briefing in Kyiv on 31 January. According to her, GLSDB have already travelled to the front.

Flashback

GLSDB (Ground Launched Small Diameter Bomb) are missiles for HIMARS and M270 MLRS with a range of up to 150 kilometres. The missiles are produced by the American company Boeing together with the Swedish company SAAB. Each GLSDB projectile is a combination of an M26 unguided rocket and a GBU-39/B SDB aerial guided bomb, which weighs approximately 115kg. The GLSDB is propelled by the M26 rocket motor and the GBU-39/B then moves towards the target using an inbuilt GPS paired with an inertial navigation system.
