Spain to transfer 10 Leopard 2A4 tanks and 20 M113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine
The Spanish Ministry of Defense has agreed to transfer to Ukraine Leopard 2A4 tanks and armored personnel carriers M113.
What is known
Armored vehicles will go to Ukraine as part of the military and technical assistance in the fight against the army of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the Spanish publication Infodefensa.
The Spanish defense department is now studying the capabilities of the equipment, which remains in reserve and is not used by the Armed Forces. Tanks and armored personnel carriers need to be upgraded and modernized. As soon as they become the property of the AFU, Ukraine will be able to finance the modernization.
The cost of the upgrade will range from €5,000,000 to €15,000,000. It is possible that funds will come from the European Peace Fund. Another nuance is that the modernization of the equipment may be delayed until the end of this year.
According to new information, Spain will transfer 10 German tanks Leopard 2A4 and 20 American armored vehicles M113 to Ukraine.
