Russia wants to launch a spy satellite for Iran, but will use it to monitor the war in Ukraine
Very soon Russia may send a spy satellite into space for Iran, but it will be used to spy on military activities in Ukraine.
What we know
Iran wants to orbit the Khayyam satellite, which will be used for surveillance of military targets in the Middle East. However, for the first few months, the satellite will be used by Russia for its military interests.
The Iranian satellite is equipped with a high-resolution camera with the ability to focus on individual objects. At the same time, it is reported that in terms of quality it will be inferior to American and Israeli reconnaissance satellites.
Iran and Russia declined to comment on the information about the alternate operation of the satellite. We have already written why Moscow needs it. As for Tehran, it needs Khayyam for spying on Israel and the Persian Gulf countries. The launch is scheduled for August 9.
