Turkey successfully tested a SIPER missile for air defense, it destroyed a Banshee 80 drone at a distance of 100 km

Turkey's defense industry agency (SSB) reported that Turkey has tested a SIPER missile for air defense.

Here's What We Know

Ismail Demir, head of SSB, said this on his Twitter page. The test firing of the missile was conducted by Roketsan in cooperation with Aselsan and the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK).

During the test, Aselsan's EIRS radar detected a target in the form of a Banshee 80 drone. A missile was then fired at the target. The missile struck the drone at a distance of over 90 kilometers and an altitude of over 7 kilometers. By 2026, Turkey plans to use SIPER as its main air defense asset. The first deliveries of the system should start in 2023.

By the way, according to Ismail Demir, SIPER system is comparable to the Russian S-400 SAMs.
