Tesla begins deliveries of Semi electric trucks with a three-year delay

Tesla, after all, has started to send electric Semi trucks to its customers. Although customers should have received the cars three years earlier, for which Elon Musk apologized.

Here's What We Know

PepsiCo and Frito-Lay were the first to receive Tesla Semi trucks. According to preliminary reports, the cost per vehicle is $150,000 or $180,000, depending on range - 300 miles / 480 km and 500 miles / 800 km, respectively. The volume of the shipment is not specified.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the other day that in a test run the electric car was able to travel 500 miles / 800 km on a single battery charge with a full load. The mass of the Tesla Semi including cargo was almost 37 tons. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 20 seconds with a full load, and the electricity consumption is 2 kW per mile (1.6 km). During the first half of the race only 35% of the traction battery was used because the route was on flat terrain.

At the presentation, which was held in Nevada, five trucks were shown - three in the colors of Pepsi and two in the color of Lays. By the end of next year, the company wants to produce up to a hundred Tesla Semi units "at best." Robyn Denholm, chairman of the board of directors, said this.
